About the Butt:

The Buttocks also fondly refferred to as "the butt" is undeniably an important physical attribute of any person. It is known to greatly enhance the sex appeal of its fortunate owner.

The Butt is made of three muscles, the Gluteus Maximus, Gluteus Medius and Gluteus Minimus.  Of these Gluteus Maximus is the largest muscle in your body and it is what gives shape to your bottom.

For those that are not blessed with a round rump (which is majority of us), there are still a lot that one can do to sculpt what you are born with. This website is an attempt to collect all the relevant resources for those seeking a pleasant posterior.

The Plastic Surgery:

One way to get a shapely butt without much effort is using the surgical procedure called Buttock Augmentation. This is not yet a very common procedure. A popular technique  is called the "Brazilian Butt Lift" and involves extracting body fat from elsewhere in the body and injecting it to the buttocks.

Buttocks can also enhanced surgically using silicone implants similar to the procedure done for the breasts.  (Source: Wikipedia)

Butt Workout :

Exercises that target the Gluteus Maximus muscle is particularly effective way to get a toned tush.

A word about the Diet :    A good diet that is rich in proteins and low in fat is an important requirement for a fit body. In women especially the extra fat accumulates around the hip and buttock region. This layer of fatty tissue has to be greatly reduced for the muscles to show through.

General activities for a toned butt :    To get started there are a few simple things that can be incorporated in everyday routine.  Walk as much as is possible everyday. A pedometer will help you to not only monitor the number of daily steps but also motivate you to walk more if you are lagging.

If you live or work in a high rise building, use the stairs,  at least a few floors everyday. If not, a stair stepper or a mini-stepper can also be used. Walking or running  especially on an incline and climbing stairs is a very effective workout for your thighs and buttocks. Other outdoor activities like hiking and rock climbing have similar beneficial effects.

TIP 1 :  A fitness enthusiast from NewZealand has a theory that walking and running barefoot (or flat soled shoes) and doing "laterine" squats regularly can do wonders for your butt.  He cites the Kalahari bushmen who have well-endowed behinds as the basis of his theory.  Click Here to read more>>

TIP 2 :  Therese Iknonian, exercise physiologist and author of Walking Fast suggests that when walking with each step, when one leg extends behind you, keep your heel on the ground as long as possible. When you lift your heel, roll through the foot, then push off with your toes.

Participating in sports such as tennis, cycling, rollerblading or inline skating and swimming on a regular basis, is a good fun way to get lower body workout. This not only contributes to your overall fitness but greatly helps shape your butt.
